About Jacob DiCesare
I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, and graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High School(opens in a new tab). I have a bachelor degree in Psychology from Pitzer College(opens in a new tab), one of the Claremont schools located about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. I have a Masters Degree in Existential-Phenomenological Psychology from Duquesne University(opens in a new tab), and went to medical school at LECOM(opens in a new tab) in Erie, PA. In 2006 I returned to Pittsburgh to do a Family Practice residency at UPMC/St. Margaret and a Sports Medicine Fellowship(opens in a new tab) with the Allegheny Health Network(opens in a new tab) (then known as Allegheny General Hospital).
In 2010 I started working for Excela Health Orthopedics, becoming their first non-operative Sports Medicine physician.
During my years of working in a high volume Orthopedic practice I became specialized in musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative medicine(opens in a new tab). I’ve been adjunct faculty with LECOM medical college, Latrobe Family Medicine residency, and Washington Hospital residency programs and have instructed physicians from around the world in ultrasound and prolotherapy(opens in a new tab) with the American Academy of Orthopedic Medicine(opens in a new tab).
I started my private practice, DiCesare Orthopedic Medicine, in 2020. Hospital owned practices tend to steer physicians towards a “one size fits all” model of patient care that is often good for some and fair for most. My goal in private practice is to use the tools I’ve developed to help patients be healthier and feel better.
