Education & Background
About Constance O'Connor

Constance has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. She recently earned a certificate for successful completion of the Family Based Mental Health Therapy Examination from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in July 2019. Constance specializes in individuals and families and has experience working with anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, trauma/attachment issues and disruptive behavior disorders. At Allegheny Children’s Initiative she provided intensive in-home family therapy for children, adolescents and their families who are experiencing significant emotional or behavioral issues. Constance utilizes an Eco-Systemic Structural model with a strength based, child and family systems approach. Prior to working in an intensive in-home family based setting, Constance conducted social skills groups for special education students in kindergarten through 12th grade. She has managed consumer emergencies and provided follow-up care, built working relationships with school personnel, and engaged students in 1:1 therapy. She also efficiently maintained medical record documentation according to organization policies/procedures. Constance believes that the therapeutic relationship can help individuals see old patterns of behavior. In a safe and caring environment you can begin working toward the positive changes you want to see.
